Interested in helping establish a Clan Cameron "presence" in your country,
state, province, territory or county? The Clan Cameron Association
welcomes dedicated kinsfolk such as yourself to propose assisting or possibly
"convening" such an effort. Choose your respective worldwide branch
below and consider contributing the greatest gift a Cameron can give, namely
their time
and effort to preserve our proud heritage.
NORTH AMERICA
Camerons throughout North America, in areas
"geographically" isolated from branches of the Clan Cameron Association,
have a solution to their seemingly solitary existence. In regions which are
not currently home to existing branches of Clan Cameron, individuals have
the option to initiate an effort to establish a new chapter.
This initial effort is not directed towards Lochiel, nor toward the North
American Commissioner. The recipient of any new chapter proposal is one
of the Regional Presidents which have been appointed to oversee North
America, under the auspices of the North American Commissioner (exactly
which Regional President receives the proposal is dependent on where the
proposed chapter will be located.) In those instances when they recognize
a need in a given area, and a formal proposal for chapter plans has been
submitted to them, then they may just give the go ahead. Ideally, the neophyte
chapter is placed under the auspices of an established branch of the Association,
which gives guidance and support during what amounts to a quite lengthy
procedure. It must be realized that everyone begins as a chapter, becoming
a branch in due time only if they become stable and viable.
Concerns have been raised as to how this process may be initiated, or how
a pocket of Camerons might form into an authorized chapter. First and foremost,
the individual who initiates the labor of love which new chapter development
entails, is referred to as the "Chapter Convenor." This person should be
familiar with the history, traditions and heritage of the Clan Cameron and
also be involved in their local Scottish community, whether through Highland
Games, Burns Suppers or even the local rugby team. What should be stressed
is that taking on the Chapter Convenor position is a commitment, not
one that should be entered into lightly.
The Regional Presidents have expressed the desire to communicate with Camerons
who are committed to helping Clan Cameron North America continue its growth
in the Scottish-American community. Given below are their mailing addresses;
however, before contacting them, individuals are encouraged to examine the Clan Cameron North
America page on the Clan Cameron
Online Website, which lists the various branches and chapters. There
may just be a Cameron chapter forming in your local community - drop-in and
find out!

Worldwide Branches, outside of North America, do not operate with
a "chapter system." To inquire as to how they are structured, and the
possibilities of establishing a Clan Cameron "presence" in your area, please

need to contact your
